Porsche hybridisation in a Lamborghini chassis

The Lamborghini Urus SE stands out as the most powerful and technologically advanced SUV ever conceived. A true masterpiece from the Sant'Agata Bolognese brand, Lamborghini's first plug-in hybrid SUV combines raw power and advanced technology to deliver unrivalled performance. At WOT, we are already working on this engine, which shares many features with that of the Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid.

An 800-horsepower hybrid engine

At the heart of the Lamborghini Urus SE is a plug-in hybrid powertrain. The 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, combined with an 8-speed automatic transmission, has been optimised to work in perfect harmony with an electric motor and a 25.7 kWh lithium-ion battery. This system enables the Urus SE to develop a phenomenal 800 horsepower and 950 Nm of torque, available from 1.750 rpm. This engine is in fact that of the 739bhp Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid, which we have in development at WOT, electronically limited so as not to overshadow the Italian car.

Unrivalled performance

Thanks to this hybrid configuration, the Urus SE accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds, an improvement of 0.1 seconds on the S version and 0.3 seconds on the Cayenne Turbo E-hybrid. Acceleration from 0 to 200 km/h takes just 11.4 seconds, an improvement of 0.9 seconds. Top speed is now 312 km/h, 7 km/h faster than the Urus S. Furthermore, in pure electric mode, this SUV can travel more than 60 kilometres with zero emissions. Our first dyno runs show that the power of the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid that we are developing at WOT far exceeds the advertised figures, which suggests that it will deliver similar performance once reprogrammed.

Innovation and aerodynamics

The aerodynamic optimisation of the Urus SE includes a redesigned tailgate, updated headlights and a rear diffuser that increases downforce by 35% at high speeds. Engineers have also improved airflow management, supplying 15% more oxygen to the engine and 30% to the braking system, ensuring optimum performance even in the most demanding conditions.

Customised suspension and handling

The Urus SE offers variable ground clearance, adjustable according to the driving mode selected, ranging from 15 mm in Corsa mode to 75 mm with the lift system activated. The air suspension is delicately calibrated to adapt to driving conditions, also influencing the electronic anti-roll bars via a 48V control system.

Conclusion

The Lamborghini Urus SE redefines performance standards for hybrid SUVs, combining an impressive 800 horsepower with cutting-edge technologies and controlled weight for an unrivalled driving experience. Every detail, from aerodynamics to suspension, has been meticulously optimised to deliver exceptional performance. At WOT, we are proud to be working on the homologated reprogramming of this V8 engine, promising even more spectacular improvements thanks to hybridisation.
