With the Dark Matter motor, Koenigsegg marks a major advancement in integrating electric power into the heart of performance. Developed in-house, this electric motor, producing 600 kW (800 hp) and 1250 Nm of torque, and which is compact (38 cm in diameter, 13.5 cm thick, weighing 39 kg), replaces the three motors initially envisioned in the Gemera concept. Mounted at the front, it powers the front wheels alone in electric mode or complements the rear internal combustion engine during acceleration phases.
Its direct-drive design (without a gearbox) combined with the Light Speed Tourbillon Transmission (LSTT) allows for immediate traction, which can be silent or explosive depending on the chosen mode. Power is delivered without latency, with pinpoint precision, whether for urban driving or track sessions.
The term "Raxial Flux" summarizes Koenigsegg's unique approach: a motor combining radial and axial flux, to offer both high torque density and high rotational speed. This technical compromise allows it to reach 8500 rpm while maintaining constant power and great compactness.
The 6-phase power supply ensures smooth torque, superior efficiency, and optimized thermal management. The "David" inverter, integrated into the motor, allows for direct installation with maximum efficiency and minimal space.
Thanks to this unified solution, Koenigsegg has lightened the hybrid powertrain, reduced complexity, and optimized mass distribution. Unlike a multi-motor configuration, the Dark Matter simplifies cooling and wiring, and allows for a strategic low and centered placement, preserving both the agility and dynamic balance of the chassis.
The motor + inverter assembly thus delivers power equivalent to that of a sports car's internal combustion engine... but with instantaneous responsiveness, without mechanical inertia or transmission loss.
Conservatively announced at 340 hp and 800 Nm in continuous use, the Dark Matter reaches 800 hp and 1250 Nm at its peak. On its own, it allows for 100% electric driving for 50 km, with a torque reserve worthy of the best sports cars. Combined with the V8, the Gemera HV8 version culminates at a combined 2300 hp, far exceeding current standards in the segment.
The Dark Matter is not an auxiliary motor, but a central element redesigned to offer density, efficiency, and maximum power, without compromise. Where other hybrid supercars integrate electric power as a supplement, Koenigsegg makes it a primary performance vector, redefining the vehicle's architecture around this technology. This approach embodies a vision shared at WOT: to go beyond conventions, not to follow trends but to design solutions intended to deliver real, measurable, and sustainable performance. Nothing is incidental. Everything is there to serve the dynamics.
