In a sporting register, M engines perform incomparably. Even so, the Bavarian manufacturer pays particular attention to the most powerful non-M engines in its catalogue, starting with the 306 hp, 3.0 biturbo N54 which originally equipped all 35i (and 1M) vehicles of the brand.

A mechanical jewel, wisely limited to 340 hp to avoid overshadowing the M3, equipped with a V8 atmospheric engine (4.0 displacement for 420 hp).

Now, these renowned engines power a number of 40i models, providing guaranteed optimal performance at highly competitive prices. What more could you ask for?

Compared to its S58 counterpart (used in the M3/M4), the B58 engine is not as powerful but does not have anything to feel embarrassed about.

Indeed, the strengths of the B58 lie in comparable characteristics, particularly in terms of the air/water exchanger or reinforced engine components. This has earned it the heights of the famous “10 Best Engines and Powertrains” awarded by the eminent Ward’s Auto.

The development process

We select the vehicle which combines the most significant criteria contributing to pollution, in particular: consumption, weight, air resistance (drag coefficient) and type of transmission. For this B58 engine, we opted for the BMW 1-serie M40i model. If the vehicle successfully passes the numerous pollution tests, the official verification body can logically conclude that the other, less polluting models in the range will also obtain positive results. This is why, within WOT, such importance is given to the engine code.

What about the warranty?

At WOT, we invest heavily in research and development to provide you with an experience where performance and reliability go hand in hand. However, it is possible that during a routine inspection, the manufacturer has detected that your vehicle has undergone modifications. Even if the improvements made by WOT are homologated, this detection can lead to the loss of the factory warranty.

For this reason we have created an additional motor warranty, specifically designed to meet your highest demands.
