9A2-DKC
Introduction

The timeless sportiness of the Porsche 911 has been turning heads for 60 years now.

WOT Porsche 992

True to the brand’s heritage, the 992 version represents the eighth generation of the Porsche 911 and marks a significant advance in terms of embedded technology and connectivity. As an example, the vehicle is equipped, among other things, with an analogue dial displaying the rev counter, positioned between two digital screens. This demonstrates Porsche’s desire to evolve while preserving the essence of the 911.

The innovation does not stop there, as improvements are also visible in terms of the mechanics, with gearboxes offering an extra ratio compared to the previous generation. Thus, entry-level models (with the exception of the 992 Classic) are equipped with a remarkable 7-speed manual gearbox, while the PDKII automatic gearbox switches to 8 gears and can be compatible with hybridization (technology that could be reserved for the future 992.2)

It should also be noted that this eighth generation marks a turning point, as it is the first %link% 911 to abandon the rear-engine layout in favor of a rear central position.

Engineer's note

Working on a Porsche is always a real pleasure.

In the past, it was relatively uncommon to work on the electronic part of the Porsche, but the arrival of turbocharged engines changed the game. Indeed, reprogramming an atmospheric engine only aroused interest if it was restricted or if performance parts had been installed.

Since the 991.2 generation, the number of reprogramming efforts on Porsche cars has increased significantly. This is partly explained by the fact that the 3.0T engine used in the Carrera is virtually identical to the one fitted in the GTS, except for a slight difference in the turbo reference. The Carrera turbos have different specifications, resulting in different performance compared to the Carrera S and GTS.

The AutoTuner tool was used twice to access the data of the new Bosch MG1CP007 ECU, first from the box and then exclusively via the OBD-II diagnostic interface. Once again, this gave WOT the opportunity to focus on this exceptional engine and develop specific, high-performance adjustments for all three engine variants.

Thanks to our engine optimization, the power of the Carrera version rises to 480 horsepower, while its torque reaches 600 Nm with RON 98 fuel. This increase in power of 100 horsepower catapults the Carrera to performances even similar to those of its big sister, the GTS.

Did you know?

The rear vent grille sports a precise number of slats, a subtle nod to the famous 911. Whether you count them from left to right or from right to left as you head towards the third stop light, you discover a perfect symmetry of 9 slats. The central brake light, meanwhile, consists of 2 red strips, each representing a number 1, thus creating the iconic number “911”.

But that’s not all!

Due to the 911’s evolving design, it is now more difficult to distinguish a four-wheel drive version from a rear-wheel drive at first glance. As you may know, four-wheel drive models had so far had a red stripe across the width of the vehicle, unlike rear-wheel drive models. In the 992, all Porsche models inherit the “four-wheel drive” design of yesteryear, but a subtle element in the design helps distinguish from rear-wheel drive models.

Indeed, if the slats are lacquered in their center, it is a rear-wheel drive version, whereas chrome inserts indicate a four-wheel drive version.

The development process

We select the vehicle which combines the most significant criteria contributing to pollution, in particular: consumption, weight, air resistance (drag coefficient) and type of transmission. For this 9A2-DKC engine, we opted for the Porsche 992 3.0T model. If the vehicle successfully passes the numerous pollution tests, the official verification body can logically conclude that the other, less polluting models in the range will also obtain positive results. This is why, within WOT, such importance is given to the engine code.

WOT image warranty

What about the warranty?

At WOT, we invest heavily in research and development to provide you with an experience where performance and reliability go hand in hand. However, it is possible that during a routine inspection, the manufacturer has detected that your vehicle has undergone modifications. Even if the improvements made by WOT are homologated, this detection can lead to the loss of the factory warranty.

For this reason we have created an additional motor warranty, specifically designed to meet your highest demands.
